ABAPENODUR is a penetrating primer designed based on a hydrophilic epoxy formulation with special hardeners. Due to its high penetration capability and adhesion to the sub-sections, it is properly recommended to be used in concrete flooring, coating, and reinforcement preparation of weak concrete substrates before applying all kinds of top coats over it. Due to its low viscosity and its wetting characteristics, this material penetrates into the concrete by an osmotic mechanism according to the capillary law and leads to bonding and reconstruction of the concrete.
DOSAGE
The required amount depends on the number of cracks and capillary tubes on the substrate surface. This can be estimated by calculating the depth of deterioration.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Cleaning: Concrete surfaces, expansion joints, and cracks should be cleared using suitable mechanical methods to remove all loose and unstable parts and reach the soundest part of the concrete substrate. All surfaces must be washed with a water jet and be clean and free of any grease, oil, loose particles, and other contaminants.
Curing & Moisture: Concrete sections must be cured for at least 28 days before primer application. The moisture content within the concrete must be less than 4%.
Strength: The minimum required compressive strength is 25 N/mm², and the minimum pull-off strength must be 1.5 N/mm².
SURFACE PREPARATION SHALL NOT TAKE PLACE IN THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:
APPLICATION METHOD
Mixing: ABAPENODUR is supplied in two separate packages (A and B). Always mix the entire contents of both packages. Add component B to component A and mix thoroughly with a low-speed mixer for three minutes, ensuring the material on the sides of the container is well mixed.
Application: The mixture can be applied immediately after mixing, as there is no induction time required. The mixture must be applied within the specified Pot Life. Application can be done using a regular or airless spray, roller, or brush.
Temperature Control: The exothermic hardening reaction of epoxy can cause the temperature of the mixture in the bucket to rise, reducing its workability. To prevent this, pour the mixture into shallow containers or begin application immediately after mixing
