ABABENTO-FLEX

BENTONITE WATERSTOP

ABABENTO-FLEX is an active sodium bentonite/butyl rubber based waterstop designed to stop water infiltration through cast-in-place concrete construction joints by expanding upon contact with water to form a positive seal against the concrete. It also fills the cracks and pores on the concrete.

It is controlled based on:

ASTM D792, ASTM D297, ASTM D471

ISO 1817, ISO 2285, ISO 7619-1

DIN 53504, DIN 53505, DIN 53521

Method

INSTALLATION

Apply by brush ABABENTO-FLEX ADHESIVE along the concrete by the width of ABABENTO-FLEX. Roll out required amount of ABABENTO-FLEX. Whilst still tacky (within 10-15 minutes) apply the ABABENTOFLEX.

Remove the release paper and press the ABABENTO-FLEX firmly to the surface for several seconds. At the highest coil end on vertical sections pay particular attention.

If the adhesive has dried out reapply to the surface. Mechanical fasteners may be used in conjunction with adhesive. Tightly butt end together to form a continuous waterstop.

Do not prehydrate or submerge in water.

TECHNICAL NOTE

The length between ABABENTO-FLEX and the outer surface of the concrete must be 50 mm minimum.
It is not suitable for the joints of precast building elements.
ABABENTO-FLEX should be protected from humidity and rain prior to application.
Upon contact with excessively salty water ABABENTO-FLEX may not expand sufficiently.
ABABENTO-FLEX can be used underwater up to a depth of 12 meters.

APPLICATION

Used for concrete construction joints.
Used for concrete cold joints.
Intersections of old and new concretes in the construction of pools, foundations, tunnels, manholes, retaining walls, garages, curtain walls, water deposits, , sewage systems, water purification facilities and pipe penetrations into above mentioned constructions.

Volumetric Change:

After 7 days in water	≥ 100 % DIN 53521
After 14 days in water	≥ 150 % DIN 53521
10 times dry/wet conversion*	≥ 150 % DIN 53521

*1 Conversion: Remaining it 7 days dry and 7 days wet.

Considerations

STORAGE

Shelf life: 1 year in the original package.
Storage condition: Store in dry shaded condition, should be protected from direct sunlight and frost. Keep cardboard box in the temperature range between +10°C and +30°C.
Packing: 7 meters roll in cardboard box .

HEALTH AND SAFETY

This product does not contain any substances hazardous to human health and the environment. However, it should not be swallowed and contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water. ABABENTO-FLEX is not flammable. For further information refer to the material safety data sheet.
